I’ve decided to blame Max Brody for what happened to my Kindle. I was supposed to go on a date with him the day after we graduated from high school. He was going to meet me at the ice skating rink.

He never showed.

Therefore, ten years later, when my Kindle Fire fell out of my purse and clattered around on the hard brick floor of Albuquerque Airport, jarring something loose inside so it wouldn’t turn on, it was Max’s fault.

What happens when you open your Kindle and read? Do the characters come to life as you read? That’s what happens to Holly.

Holly has something terrible happen. On her way to a 10 year class reunion, she drops her Kindle at the airport, breaking it. As an English teacher, she enjoys reading, sacrificing her social life just to read. Of course, she blames her old crush from 10 years ago, Max, who stood her up, for breaking her Kindle. If he hadn’t stood her up, she would never have bothered to come to the reunion to confront him…therefore, not being in a position to drop her Kindle at the airport.

At the reunion, she meets up with an old friend, Vivian, who just so happens to be living with Max. Vivian is someone who believes in Wicca and magic, and performs a dream spell on Holly. But what happens next wasn’t what she had planned.

As Holly begins reading one of her favourite stories, she gets pulled into the Kindle story, and interacts with the characters as if she was them. Holly becomes so obsessed with the Kindle, that she would rather spend time “in” it, then being social. When Vivian gets her hands on the Kindle, nothing good can come of it. Now Vivian and Max are both stuck inside the Kindle.

But what happens when the characters get out into the “real” world and don’t want to go back in? And, now that some of the characters from one book are interacting with those from another, all Hell breaks loose.

Will Max, Vivian and Holly get out of the Kindle, and will all the characters get back to the stories that they belong in? You’ll have to read this one to find out.

The story started out a little slow, and I was beginning to wonder what the hell I had gotten myself into. But when Holly actually goes into the story, becoming one of the characters and interacting with them, I thought, “Hey, this is pretty neat.”…and that’s what kept me reading.

I had fun with this book and you will too. 5 stars!
